GIP Program
The Global Investor Programme (GIP), administered by the Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB), is an immigration scheme designed to attract high-net-worth individuals and investors to Singapore to invest in the local economy. This programme is currently Singapore's only official investment immigration scheme, allowing successful applicants and their families to obtain Singapore Permanent Resident (PR) status in one step.
Applicants must meet a series of stringent criteria and requirements, and pass the review by the Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) and the Economic Development Board (EDB). Upon successful application, applicants and their family members can enjoy Singapore's benefits and obtain permanent resident status. The advantages of GIP include Singapore's high quality of life, excellent education and healthcare resources, convenient international connectivity, as well as a favorable business and investment environment.
The programme offers investors three investment options:
Option A: Applicants must invest at least SGD 10 million (including paid-up capital) to establish a new business entity or invest in an existing business operation.
Option B: Applicants choosing to invest in Singapore must invest at least SGD 25 million in a GIP-selected fund – 10 times the previous requirement.
Option C: Family office applicants must establish a single family office with assets under management (AUM) of at least SGD 200 million. This is designed for investors intending to set up a family office. Under the new regulations, applicants must establish a single family office in Singapore with AUM of at least SGD 200 million, of which at least SGD 50 million must be invested in four specified categories and must be completed within 12 months from the date of the approval letter.
