Singapore Work Passes for Professionals
Employment Pass (EP): A work pass for foreign professionals working in Singapore, suitable for foreign professionals, managers, and executives with specialized skills and work experience. EP is typically valid for 1–2 years upon first approval and can be renewed before expiry (renewal is subject to the COMPASS points-based system).
Personalized Employment Pass (PEP): A special work pass issued by the Singapore Ministry of Manpower to high-earning foreign professionals, valid for 3 years. PEP holders are not tied to any employer and can freely choose their employment. They have 6 months to find new employment if unemployed, but the pass cannot be renewed upon expiry.
Overseas Networks & Expertise Pass (ONE Pass): Introduced by Singapore in 2023, this pass is valid for 5 years and aims to attract top global talent earning over SGD 30,000 per month (approximately RMB 150,000) to develop their careers in Singapore. Holders can simultaneously start and operate companies or work for multiple companies. The pass can be renewed before expiry.
Entrepreneur Pass (EntrePass): A visa specifically designed for foreigners intending to start a business in Singapore. Applicants must submit a detailed business plan and investment proposal, and meet entrepreneurship criteria and requirements. Upon approval, they must establish and operate a company in Singapore. The pass is typically valid for 1 year upon first approval and can subsequently be renewed for 2 years based on conditions.
Tech Pass: A new visa introduced by the Singapore Economic Development Board in 2020, designed to attract top global tech talent to work in Singapore, driving the development of the country's tech ecosystem and further strengthening its leading position as a regional tech hub. The pass is valid for 2 years upon first approval and can be renewed for another 2 years based on conditions.
Singapore Long-Term Passes
Permanent Residence (PR): Permanent resident status allows holders to live and work in Singapore permanently, enjoying many of the rights and benefits of local residents.
Long-Term Visit Pass (LTVP): Suitable for family members or parents of Singapore citizens and permanent residents, as well as parents or accompanying mothers of eligible work pass holders. Typically valid for 2 years, renewal is tied to the validity of the main pass holder's pass.
Dependant's Pass (DP): Available for spouses and underage children of eligible EP (Employment Pass) or S Pass holders in Singapore, allowing them to reside long-term in Singapore while working or studying. DP holders can also freely enter and exit Singapore. Typically valid for 2 years, renewal is tied to the validity of the main pass holder's pass.
